Our expedition options for the event offer the chance to re-trace part of the route originally explored by Marco Polo. The old overland camel train route from China though Asia Minor to Europe passed this way.

It is also the furthest reach of the Chinese Empire, with the final fort on the Great Wall just a short distance from our observation site. All the famed sites of China are offered in our programme, the Forbidden City in Beijing, the Terracotta Warriors at Xian, the Great Wall at Badaling, the Li River in Gulin and much more. Extensions to include the Yangtze River Cruise with a visit to the Three Gorges Dam project and also a journey on the world’s highest railway to Tibet will also be available.

Fortunately modern China now offers international standard hotel accommodation, even in these remote regions, so our journey’s will be in far greater comfort than the original travellers along these routes.
