Diving
The island itself is completely surrounded by a calm, warm and relatively shallow crystal clear lagoon which makes for superb diving with a huge variety of marine life.
Outside the lagoon you can explore the deeper ocean waters where a multitude of marine life awaits including turtles, barracuda and various species of shark. Bora Bora is also well known for the many species of ray that are found in the waters year round.
Throughout August to October there is also the chance to spot migrating humpback whales.
The dive centre based at the Pearl Beach Resort was founded in 2000 and is located on the hotel's beach. It offers everything a diver could need including an area for you to view your own images after the day's diving.
The centre offers two tank dives in the morning with the option to add a third dive in the afternoon.
French Polynesia enjoys a tropical climate with an average temperature of 27°C. The waters of the lagoon remain a fairly constant 26°C. Rain is rare during the dry season with better dive conditions and often superb visibility.
